The Lagos State Government through the Health Facility Monitoring and Accreditation Agency, HEFAMAA has shut down twenty health facilities for non-compliance with regulatory standards.

Speaking after a monitoring and inspection exercise carried out by the agency, the Executive Secretary of HEFAMAA, Dr. Abiola Idowu stressed that the State Government remains committed to putting a halt to the ugly trend of having unqualified personnel in health facilities.

Idowu stated the state government would continue to ensure that the environment for dispensation of medical care is suitable and hygienic for the promotion and maintenance of good health.

Speaking on the strategies employed by the agency to achieve the level of success recorded in the exercise, the Executive Secretary explained that consistent surveillance and monitoring of health facilities in the state as well as placement of adequate sanctions against those who failed to adhere to standards were some of the measures they put in place.

Idowu then urged members of the public to cooperate and support the government to fight against quackery and illegal operation of facilities by reporting those behind such acts to relevant government agencies to safeguard the health and well-being of citizens.
